Print-To-File Ugliness
Howdy!
We design our labels in Bartender, then use print-to-file to create a .prn label file for our Zebra printers. Right in the middle of the label is a barcode field that says [serialID]. Our database program copies the .prn label file to the printer, but replaces "[serialID]" with the next serial number.
We are very slowly moving from Windows XP to Windows 7. Our main label designer guy just got a Windows 7 PC. Both the Zebra and the Seagull drivers do the same thing. The .prn file comes out with some familiar-looking ZPL and a whole bunch of seemingly random alpha-numerics that go on and on, line after line. And nowhere in the .prn label file is the text "[serialID]".
Is this the Unicode representation of the text? Or what?
Is there any way I can just turn it off, and go back to simple ZPL .prn files?
Thanks!

Make sure you specify Zebra device fonts for the text instead of a Windows font which will get rendered as graphic data. 0 -

OK. Uh, is that in the print driver setup, or in Bartender? I'm not finding it...
Thanks!

In the BarTender label format layout design make sure that the text objects are using a Zebra font. For a Zebra font to be available you will need to have selected a Zebra printer driver by Seagull Scientific. When done you will then need to reproduce the PRN file. 0 -
