What type of printer/printer drivers are you using? If you're using Seagull's drivers, you'll want to right-click on the bar code, select Properties. On the Bar code tab, choose print method. Change to bar codes and human readable text controlled by BarTender. Hope that helps.

Rendering the bar code as a graphic (which will happen when you set the print method for the bar code to be controlled by BarTender as Jim suggested), might possibly solve / workaround your problem.

Please also verify on which port the printer is connected to. If it's a COM port, look at the port settings and make sure the Flow Control is set to XOn/XOff. If you connect to the printer via an IP address, check if there is a print server box in between the printer and the computer. If yes, try connecting the printer locally and check if the error still persists.

Finally, if the bar code contains variable data and you're already using a Seagull driver for your thermal printer, access the "File>Print>Performance" dialog in BarTender once the label format has been opened and try disabling the "Allow variable data optimization" printer optimization and print again.

Please do give us details on the printer and printer driver. The solution Jim gave is a workaround which should solve the immediate issue. I would suggest you also try cycling the power on the printer, or even doing a factory default reset just in case there is a glitch in the printer's memory.

    Hi

Jim's workaround seems to working fine for the time being. the printer is a zebra 140xiiii using the bartender drivers for it.
