Is it possible to change the background colour or a layer based on a data field? Follow

Hi,

I'm evaluating Bartender and how we can use it and we have a requirement to have background colours change depending on the product but the layout of the label template stays the same. (This is for somewhere between 400 to 700 products)

Now I would ideally like to just set the background colour based on a database field but that doesn't seem to be an option. Nor can I seem to set a layer and display it as monochrome and set the colour from a database field.

Am I correct in the above thinking? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That leaves me having to set up images with the background colour in a separate directory and pull them into the layer based on a database field which seems like a lot of extra work. Is there any way around that that anyone knows about? the option of designing a template for each product is not an option due to the number of products involved and also it is to be integrated and printed from a field being dropped into a folder. I'm completely new to Bartender and would appreciate any help given.

Thank you

You should be able to achieve something like that using VB script I believe. I think I have a sample label that does something like this but would need to try and find it.

I think you would need to add a box that cover the full label and then format the fill colour of that dependent on the value pulled from your database field.

Thank you for that Pete. In the end, I managed to figure it out with what you said above without needing to use a VB Script. I created a box and used the fill colour and then pulled the data from my database and then had to trim the first character of the hex code off to get it to work but never the less it does work :)
