Embedded image and bold text not printing but for only some users Follow

0

Hi, I have bit of an odd printing problem:

Bartender 2016 R9
Zebra Zebra S4M (203 dpi) - ZPL
Zebra ZPL-II Driver Version: 2021.2
Multiple Windows 10 desktops, all patched to the same version and updates.
Windows Server 2016 (1607 Build 14393.4530) as the print server

Prints from some desktops work flawlessly, but from some other desktops printing the same labels results in the bolded text and the embedded image missing whilst the normal text and the barcode still prints fine.

All desktops use the same 3 Bartender label templates and all 3 templates have the bold text and the embedded image missing just for some users.

You may want to check that all the users have full rights to the printers and that the fonts being used are installed on all the computers.

If you are using True Type fonts, these will be being sent to the printer as if they are sent as graphics.

Is the problem printer specific? Is it always one printer that deos not print these. If so you could try using the Print to File option from the File>Print Screen in BarTender for a working printer/label and then send the saved PRN file to the other PC and use the Send File to printer option from the Printer Properties>Tools>Action drop down menu. This will show whether it is a fault/issue on the printer itself

Thank you for the tips Pete.

We only have the one printer, but with some removing and reinstalling of Bartender and Zebra 2021.3 drivers I have made some progress.

The missing bolded text has been fully resolved by swapping the label template text font to Zebra Triumvirate, it seemed that the previous Arial font was being substituted by different "Best Matching Printer Fonts" across different users.

The only remaining issue I have is for two users the embedded logo image doesn't print on the label.

What seems odd is that if I log in as a different user on the same PC then the same label prints with the logo just fine.

There just seems to be something very specific to users that is causing the graphic not to be printed.

If I open the label in BarTender Designer I see the graphic, and if I use preview in Bartender Designer I also see the graphic, but when printing the label it doesn't print the graphic.

That does seem odd.

The way BarTender normally handles graphics is it creates the image and sends that down at the start of the label commands loading it into memory.

In the label command part of the data sent is the command to print the image and afterwards a command to delete from flash.

If for some reason the user has not got access enough rights to the printer then this could cause an issue I would expect. You may want to check when logged in as a working andnot working profile that both have the same rights to the driver in Control Panel (are any of the screens greyed out for one user and not the other) and also that both profiles are set to use the E - Ram memory module on the printer. You can access this from the Control Panel to or else via the BarTender print screen

Thank you so very much Pete, your information was extremely helpful.

It turned out that the two problem profiles both had empty boxes under Cache Storage and Temporary Storage in Cache settings.

Setting them both to RAM has completely fixed the problem for both users, labels are now printing perfectly again.

I don't think I would have ever found that without your help so once again thank you for your advice it is really appreciated.
