Dropdown populating two fields (with different values)

    As the first two letters of the fruit are used to represent the abbreviation then you could link your dropdown list value to the full name field and for the short values set the Type to Object Value of the full name text field and then configure Truncation to keep the first two characters only.

    Thanks Pete. 

    That was actually example data which coincidentally followed the format you spotted.

    Looking into it further, I think the solution lies in VB Script so will dig into that a bit more.

    Rather than VB you could just link the abbreviated field to the main fruit field via the Object Value Data Source Type and then set up a bunch of search and replace commands.

    I'm surprised there's no way to directly reference the two different values in a dropdown though.

    Normally you would do that via the database option but if the label is already linked to a database then you have to use a different method or else see if you can form a credible join between multiple databases
