Domain switch to parent company on the server
Hi together,
we have to switch to the parents company domain.
Will this cause some issues regarding license or do we have to adjust some configs?
Thank you and best regards from germany

Hello Dennis,
Thank you for reaching us via the BarTender Community Forums!
Depending on BarTender version and configuration, we might have to have workstations using BarTender locate the Seagull License Server again. Could you tell us what BarTender version you are currently on? How many machines are currently using BarTender?
Also, preemptively, here are some articles which you might find of use:
BarTender 2016
Locating Seagull License Server on your network
BarTender cannot locate Seagull License Server in BarTender 2016
BarTender 2019 or later
Moving your License to a New Computer
License Management Webinar
How to find the BarTender License Service on your Network on BarTender 2019
I hope these help and feel free to reach us again with any and all follow-up questions! :)0 -

Hi Xabier,
thank you for your fast reply!
See here our data/information:
License Server is installed on the server itself and Bartender 2016 R3 on one PC with one label printer:
The PC switched to the new domain a few month ago as well - without any issues afaik.
Best regards

Thank you for the information Dennis!
Then we would recommend deactivating your license from the Seagull License Server, the client installs will still be able to print for up to 72 hours after losing the activation. This workstation will see warning messages displaying how much time for the change they have left. After the domain change is complete, you can then reactivate the license in the Seagull License Server and the clients should find it automatically if the server name itself or the IP address doesn't change.
If the server name or IP address is changing, you would need to redirect the clients to the new name/IP. This is done from within BarTender under the Administer Menu > Licensing Setup.
Let us know if you have any further questions and I hope goes well!0
