Webcam not Showing up in Scanner & Camera Setup dialog
Hello. I am trying to build a simple ID card app where the photo is captured at Print Time. I have installed the camera, its plug and play on Win10. It shows up in device manager (as a webcam) and I am able to use in the Microsoft camera app.
But when I try to add the control in the BarTender 2021, it doesn't show up. I have searched and can't find where to add it or how to add it. I did find an article from Microsoft that said WIA is not supported for cameras from Vista and beyond - so I am a little shocked that its the standard in BarTender.
Anyway, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Anyone with advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Unfortunately, I need to solve this yesterday. If i need to get a differnt camera, I will. But time is of the essence.
Thank you,
-Brian

Hello Brian,
Thank you for using the BarTender forums! I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your camera not showing up.
With some cameras and version of Windows, they won't show up in BarTender's Scanner & Camera setup dialog by default, due to some innate permission issues.
However, a workaround that may work is to launch BarTender Designer as an Administrator (Right-click > Run as Administrator). This will usually circumvent the issue and allow your webcam to show up.
Please let me know if this works for you.

When I run BarTender Designer as administrator, the problem is solved.
Tested: Jabra Panacast 20, Logitech C710, Logitech C525, Nikon Z6.
