I don't know anything about bytescout but it looks like it just reads the code and doesn't verify them. If that is all you need to be able to do then that maybe good enough for you but if you need to verify a symbol then I would suggest you need an actual barcode verifier for that.

    Hi pthane,

I have made contact with bytescout, their PC side ByteScout BarCode Reader can only read very very regular barcode image, I have some barcode images exported by bartender, ByteScout BarCode Reader can't recognize them normally.

I didn't find one PC side barcode recognizer software from now. I have one barcoder reader reader but I am talking about the software.

All a barcode reader will do is show you that the barcode is readable but it will not check that the code has been created correctly. If you need to validate that the barcode is both readable and has been constructed in accordance with the regulations then you would need to use a Barcode Verifier such as those offered by Axicon and a few other companies for example.

    Hi Peter Thane,

axiconlinearverifier-2.3.0.exe also need hardware to work. I mean the verify is to read the value, not verify all standard and technical details for barcode. PC side reader software depends on pixels which is different from hardware read method, so it has poor compatibility to some barcode images.

Yes, it needs the Verifier to actually verify the code and then display the results in the software.

You can check the readability of a code quite simply by just scanning the data into Word or Notepad or similar, but that will not verify that the code is correctly constructed as a scanner will not detect/display the none printable elements of the barcode, which is especially important for GS1-128 symbols as these will include the function1 characters, subset changes and non visible check digits.

So it all depends what you actually need, is it to verify the code or just validate it, and so there probably nothing else I can help you with.
