Client Printing Error
The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT)
This error message comes up when I try to print to a printer through the Client Print Service. Printing from printers installed on the server works fine. Any ideas?

Hello Ian!
Thank you for sharing your issue with the Community.
There could be quite a number of things that could be at fault here. Normally this sort of error is indicative of an effect from a previous problem rather than a cause. The code has tried to perform an action with the RPC server, (a BarTender process), but that RPC server is either busy, hung, or crashed and therefore no longer responding. Hence the error.
Note that the problem with the BarTender process might have occurred before the call that your application makes; it’s simply this later call that reveals the problem with the process.
That being said, we could rule out quite a few things if you provide us with the following information:- What BarTender version, edition, and service release are you currently on?
- Are you using Seagull Scientific drivers for these printers? If not, we would advise you to install our drivers on the server as the communication issue could have its roots here.
- Has Print Portal ever worked for this client machine?
- Also, could you check the Application EventViewer logs at the time this error occurs? Do we get any error message IDs with any correlation to BarTender in these logs?
- Is this machine using any VPNs or Antivirus software? Would it be possible to test its behavior with these turned off?
Thank you in advance.0 - What BarTender version, edition, and service release are you currently on?
