Update vs fresh install 2022 r/

Hi,
we are in the IQ phase of validating BarTender.

For one client and the server, BarTender was updated to R7 (previously R4 and R5 respectively). It took a long time, 1 hour for the client, but it finished.

For the other client, it was a fresh install, but it completely failed. It started, but stalled and never completed. We have tried multiple times, and even downloaded the installer again.

Has anyone else had problems with fresh install of 2022 R7?

  Welcome to the BarTender Community Forums! Although we do receive some rare reports of issues with stalling or failing installations, BarTender 2022 R7 is fully operational. Before updating your current revision of BarTender, we recommend reviewing our article on the subject.

  There are a few things that you can try to troubleshoot the issue you are facing:

  • Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for BarTender 2022 R7. You can find these requirements on our website.
  • Close all other applications before you start the installation.
  • Try running the installation as an administrator.
  • If you are using a firewall or antivirus program, try temporarily disabling it.

  Here are some additional tips that may help:

  • Make sure that you have enough free disk space on your computer.
  • Try installing BarTender 2022 R7 on a different computer.
  • If you are using a virtual machine, try installing BarTender 2022 R7 on the host machine.

  Also, do you get any error messages at all? Or does the installation stall forever?

  Hi Xabier,
  thanks for reaching out!
  Everything went well a week later, but the only differences were that

  we had IT with admin password at the computer, and not remote (credentials provided via Team Viewer the first time)

  We had closed all other applications and some background processes via Task Manager before starting the second time.

  There were no error messages even the first time, and it just stalled.

  Second time, everything went quite smoothly, and finished rather quickly.
