Bartender with Zebra Printer - fields randomly move
Bartender 2022 R7
Zebra ZT231 Printer
Using the Bartender driver for the Zebra
I've calibrated the Zebra printer but I still can't get the barcode and text to stay in the same place from label to label. They seem to drift as much as 1/4 inch in random directions every copy. I've checked the label settings. I've measured and re-measured the labels, making sure the label size is correct. The labels are pre-printed with a color background image but I've physically measured the elements that are printed and they are indeed moving relative to the label's borders. It's both the X and Y directions and it seems to be random. Sometimes it won't drift at all through multiple copies and other times I can't get two to print out the same in a row.
I really don't think it's a label size or setup issue because I think that would just drift in the print direction the same amount every time. It was doing that at first, but then I ran the calibration on the printer and that stopped. It never gets more than 1/4" or so away from the "original" direction, but if I can't even get them to print out consistently, I don't know what there is to set. No matter what I set, the drifting still happens. I'm not even sure if this is a Bartender or a Zebra problem at this point.

A couple of things to check is that the label guides are in place to prevent the labels from moving horizontally. For the vertical movement make sure that there is no Top of Form set in the Printer Properties and you may want to specify the type of labels being used to rather than leave it to use the default settings in the printer:

I don't have anything set in Top Adjustment.
I did poke around this morning and adjusted the web detection eye away from the edge. I'm wondering if it was too far over and not getting a clear enough edge to determine the gap between labels. Unfortunately my demo license expired and I don't have access to my customer's license until tomorrow, so I couldn't test it out after that. I did notice that it was feeding out not nearly enough when I first powered it on. Like it was thinking the labels were way shorter than they were. Once I adjusted the eye, the feed started working properly. I had noticed it before, but calibrated the printer and it went away.
