Database Joining
I am using Bartender and referencing an excell spreadsheet as a data source for my labels. The spreadsheet currently has several tabs which correspond to different series of product families, each containing multiple part numbers. Is there a way to have a reference set up (possibly using joined tables?) such that when printing and selecting the record to print, a complete list of part numbers from all tabs in the spreadsheet will be shown to pick from? One of the reasons I am using tabs right now is that most of the labels are confined to a single product family, and I want to limit print options to those parts.

You certainly can create joins between different tables (or Excel sheets). You do this using the “Joins” tab in Bartender’s Database Connection Setup.

Go the “File” menu and select Database Connection Setup

Go to “Tables” tab to select the tables that contain the data you need

Go to the “Joins” tab to create the relationships between the tables (you will only see the Joins tab once you have multiple tables selected)
It is difficult to give you any more specific guidance about how to create the relationships without knowing the details of your Excel spreadsheet. If you do need additional help, I recommend that you contact your local support office for more personalized assistance for this issue.

Tried this for hooking up 2 Excel-documents. First one contains "productnumber" and "productname", second one contains "producnumber" (for joining) and some other fields of extra information. Selecting to join by using "productnumber" simply gives me an "Database XXX is not a valid database" (in this error-message it strips the file-ending for the file, perhaps this could be the problem?)
However, if I export my two Excel-sheets to tabulator seperated text-files, the joining works fine. This makes me believe that there might be a bug involved?0 -

Try giving Alias to database name - I wonder "c:\book1.xls" is not valid but "book1" is valid. See
