Bartender For Linux Have?
-
BarTender is a Windows only application.
You can run BarTender on a Linux machine only if you are using virtualization with Windows running in a virtual computer of some kind.
Alternatively, the Commander companion application can be used to integrate BarTender, running on a Windows computer, with a "system" (ERP/WMS etc) running on the Linux computer. See the below white papers for more details on this middleware application:

Dear Support Managers,
I'd like to use Bartender in UBUNTU (Linux).
I've checked your above posts, but didn't understand on how to actually use it.
Can you please explain in some easy way so a starter like me can understand and use it on Linux?
Thanks in advance.
HIREN.

Hello Hiren,
As mentioned by Ian, we only develop our software for Windows platform, not for Linux.
There are a few different ways to try to run BarTender on your Linux system:
- Use Wine, which is a compatibility layer which will allow you to run Windows applications in Linux.
- Run a virtual image of Windows (such as using VMWare) on your Linux system.
- Use CrossOver. Similar to Wine, but a commercial product and seems less complicated to run Windows applications.
- Do a Remote Desktop from the Linux machine to the Windows machine. You would have had installed BarTender on the Windows machine.
If your ERP system is based in Linux, you may want to try the Commander approach we suggested. BarTender / Commander would run on a separate Windows installation and would pick up the variable data coming from your ERP system based on Linux. Once the trigger data files have been detected, Commander would process them by waking up BarTender on the Windows machine and printing them to the printer (again, a printer for which you've installed a Windows printer driver on the Windows machine).
The solution suggested by Gene implies you to again have a Windows machine where you would install BT-WPS, which is a web based label printing solution. Once BT-WPS has been set up, you can open an internet browser in Linux and print the labels from there.
