Testing License Server Upgrade From 9.4 To 10
We are running an Enterprise license server, version 9.4, and need to upgrade to version 10. I have 2 questions -
1. Would I be able to install License Server Version 10 on a test server and connect some test Bartender users to it to confirm we won't run into any issues with users who are still running 9.4, without affecting my production SLS and users?
2. To upgrade my current 9.4 License server, do I follow the same steps I currently take when upgrading number of printers? De-activate and re-activate with new key?
Thank you!

As you will also be upgrading the version of BarTender in use, no, it is not exactly the same procedure. The procedure to follow would be:
* Deactivate Seagull License Server v9.4 via the "Help > Activation Wizard" in Seagull License Server.
* Download and install Seagull License Server v10.0 (License Server is included now in the BarTender installer).
* Activate License Server v10.0 via the "Help > Activate this Software" dialog. As this is an upgrade, you will also be asked for the old v9.4 product key code.
Please note that older BT versions (such as v9.4) will be able to locate SLS v10.0 on the network, so this guarantees that you can make a smooth transition to v10.0. No, SLS v10.0 cannot be tested until you deactivate v9.4 License Server.
BTW: Yesterday, we've released BT v10.1, so if you haven't upgraded yet, you will need to upgrade to version 10.1 instead:

- I am trying this right now, and realize I may have left out some key information - my Commander and Bartender format files are on the same server - when I am installing License Server Only for Version 10, it seems to be uninstalling Commander and everything else! This is rather alarming - am I going to be able to have License Server 10 and Commander and Bartender 9.4 running on the same server?

No. Since there is a single installer for BarTender and the License Server you'll not be able to have any 9.4 components on that machine.
