    When you do not use a printer for 7 days, it drops off the list. Alternatively, be sure you "Keep" the printers you don't want to ever be replaced by something accidentally.

     

    The ability to manually remove printers on-demand was removed a few versions back.

    We are implementing automation version 10.1 licensed for 10 printers and we have the same problems with licencing as mentioned on this forum. Users printing to laser printers that are not used to print labels, same physical printer with same ip and different port (installation mistake), etc.

     

    At the same time we are swapping Toshiba printers to Zebra ones. In the end it will be a 10 printer licence with 7 Zebra printers. We still are in the 30 day but I'm beginning to get worried about this.

     

    I knew version 7 of Bartender and to avoid this we had 2 grate options: possibility to remove a printer and a check box to keep the correct printers in order to force the licence to only see this ones.

     

    With the option to "keep" printers in the SLS will avoid this situation ? Meaning If I mark to keep the printers that really matters will the SLS discard the other ones not marked ?

    I'm currently facing  a blocking problem with the license server.

    I was installing an intermec PD41 printer but was not able to print, got errors.

    I deleted printer and reinstalled several times.

    Now I'm facing a list of 7 installed printers in the License Server list.

    NOT ABLE TO REMOVE!!!!!

    uninstalled software reinstalled, nothing is solving my problem...

    As mentioned above that is not possible. However, as long as the printers are not ticked as "keep" they will be removed automatically after 7 days have gone by since they were last used.

    How do I mark or set up a printer as "keep"?

    This is an option in older versions of BarTender (pre BT 2019) for the Automation and Enterprise editions and can be found in the Licence Server application. 

    I believe for 2019 and onwards you kind of work this in reverse and block the devices you do not want used. This could be achieved by setting up, in Administration Console>Printer Usage, Printer Groups and blocking the printers not to "keep" (see https://support.seagullscientific.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026015934-Managing-Printer-Groups-and-their-printers) or else, again in Admin Console and the Printers section this time, use the "Prevent all usage...." for the printers to block.

    Blocking devices doesn't really solve the problem.    If you have licenses full and need to switch to a different server, install a different printer etc the software precludes this and makes you wait 7 days effectively removing that functionality.    Huge issue that appears to been out there close to a decade.
