Code 128 Printed Barcode "blurry" Seguir

Our current label software (Stylus) printed a crisp, clear code128 barcode on the labels.  BatTender seems to print the same code with a yellowish-grey blur almost as if the code is a reduced version of a larger image with pixelation happening on the final printer image.

I have checked the different settings that I can find for the barcode but can't seem to find anything that might be causing this strange printing.  Any suggestions?

Our code 128 is all numeric with an embedded date and item code so the barcode reads as "YYMMDD0123456" with the actual data being scanned as "1502230002709"

What printer is this printing on?

This is going to a Ricoh Aficio SP C431DN.  This is the printer we use to handle our vinyl labels.

EDIT:

I just sent the same printout to an HP Laserjet 600 (plain paper) and everything appears normal.

Also, the Ricoh is a color printer where the HP is is not.

Something in the barcode image to the Ricoh is not going across correctly.

It sounds like your color printer is trying to process print the black maybe? Is there a setting in your printer properties where you can set it to black and white only?

This is only happening within the Bartender print.  Our other label software prints everything just fine.

And we cannot set to b/w only as we have color boxes and color images on our labels.

Is there a setting in Bartender for how a barcode image is sent down to the printer?  This almost seems like an issue with Bartender passing down a bad image to the printer.

Update:

I made a new template and copy/pasted the barcode from the first template to the new one.  All it has is the barcode.  This label prints fine.

As soon as I add a shape object and set the fill color the barcode becomes "blurry" as if the fill color of the object is blending in with the barcode.

EDIT:

I took out the color-filled shape and added a line of text ("Testing").

When the text is black, the barcode is fine.

When the text is any other color, the barcode becomes unusable.

The addition of color to the label is creating an issue with the barcode printing properly.

EDIT2:

To help describe what I'm seeing...

If I have a line of text that is green, the barcode has a grey-green smear to it.

If I add a yellow box, the barcode has a yellowish-grey smear to it.

If I add an image of a jar of mayonnaise to it that has red, blue and yellow in the image, the barcode now has a red-blue-yellow-grey smear to it.

Any color I add to the label mixes in to the barcode image when printed.

I go into the printer settings in Bartender and force it to b/w print for the page, the labels come out crisp and clean (just no color).

OK.  I found out the issue.  I have to force the printer to use a Post Script driver for the barcode to print correctly.

I had this same issue on Ricoh. The solution for me was to change the color of the barcode to a RGB value of 0,0,1. Basically just make the blue a 1 and it prints crisp. I tried this because if you ever use CAB XC series printers you have to do this for all barcodes, lines, boxes, etc. or they don't print at all.
