    1. Have you checked the Window 2003 server log to see if there are obvious error?

    2. I would suggest to turn on Bartender log and commander log as well. How to turn on logging on Bartender and commander?
"Administer->Log Setup-> On the "Text File Log" tab, Tick the "Log Messages:" checkbox , then click the "Setup" button to see where the file is saved.

    3. If the trigger files are the same, trigger frequency are the same, label format file btw are the same, commander are the same. It worked before, the only differences are window update. You can give it a try to turn off anti-virus, uninstall Bartender(including commader)and install Bartender to see if it make differences.

    3. Please send us the label btw, commander *tl file and trigger file and the frequency of your trigger file for reference.

It will be difficult to give you any more specific guidance in your current environment without knowing more details.I recommend that you contact local support office for more personalized assistance for this issue. If BarTender is hanging when you try to open a label from within the BarTender application window (not Commander), then I would first suspect an issue with the printer driver being used. Is the printer used by the label format shared from over the network? Perhaps the "server" printer driver instance is not available? If you set that printer as your Windows default printer and then try to create a new label, do you get a similar or the same issue? If the previous test hangs too, try selecting a different Windows default driver (such a locally installed printer) and start a new label to see if this doesn't hang.

If it does indeed seem to be caused by the printer driver used, be sure to address that in the way needed before trying to change anything in the BarTender label format or Commander task list.

The printer is a Zebra LP 2844-Z attached as a local printer to a workstation where the labels are printed. Last week we also swapped out the workstation, which was running Windows XP Pro, for a new Dell, running Windows 7 Pro. The printer was added to the new workstation, and it printed without issues. On Saturday we put the workstation on, and were able to access the label format and print labels. We'll implement the steps requested in the first response, and post a follow-up. Thanks for your prompt reply.

    It was a driver issue.

The problem was resolved after contacing support and working with Curt, who did a nice job of assisting us. We attempted to delete the printer drivers from the server using the Seagull Driverwizard.exe, but it didn't work. We had to delete the printer from the regsitry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\PRINTERS\. After that we were able to uninstall the current drivers and install the new drivers.

The printer had to be readded a a local port, using UNC and the actual share name - not the printer name. - \\PC72\tsc_ttk_345

Thanks to Ian and Susan, who responded to this thread, as well as Curt.
