Printing Pause Between Labels
I have multiple templates we print but they all suffer from this. I started working for this company a couple years ago and Bartender was already installed and acting like this. Now we are looking to have Bartender do more printing than before. We are processing roughly 100-300 labels a day with bartender right now and the delay isn't good. Between each label the printer pauses for 1.5-3 seconds like it is waiting for data. If I print multiple copies of the same label this isn't an issue.
Our setup
- Bartender 9.01 Enterprise patched to the most recent
- Zebra 220 Xi3 Plus and Xi4 printers printing at 8 ips
- Printers hardwired on the LAN
- Newest Seagull drivers 7.3.3
- Command triggering on a BTXML
- Windows Server 2003 32bit
What I have tried
- Performance Options on Driver
- Dithering Options
- Removing just about everything from the template but leaving the "Text File" database attached
- Removed all except one field from the "Text File" database
- Installed 10.1 on Windows 2012 64bit
- Hooked up printers via USB to server
- Added a "CSV" database with just 1 field per table and 5 tables to create 5 labels without Commander
- Print text only
- Print image only
Nothing I have tried fixes this. The only way I can get something to print continuously at 8 ips is printing multiple copies of the same file. I have read through all the White papers about optimizing and searched up and down on the forums. When I can remove everything except one line of static text such as "Ship To:" and not even have the database file populate a value, I don't know what the issue is.
Any help would be great!
Thanks,
Tim

Are you using Windows fonts or printer internal fonts on your labels?
You say to be enabled / disabled performance options in the driver, but have you tried to enable the performance options in BarTender under the "File > Print" dialog and now via the "Performance" tab?
Also, you say that you've done a simple test just by printing from BarTender to a database connected BarTender document. With 5 tables, do you mean 5 database records, so you're printing 1 label per record, 5 labels in total? Do you then still have performance issues when performance options are enabled and when using printer internal fonts?

Printer Fonts. Zebra Triumvirate to be exact.
Via Bartender is where i meant as that is the only place that holds the performance settings that I found.
Yes. 5 records to create 5 labels. We create 8.5in x 11in labels and creating as little as 2 of these with a single field of information will cause the delay.

By using the "More Reply Options" button, please attach your BarTender document and a print file (.prn) to examine. The print file can be obtained via the "File > Print" dialog in BarTender by enabling the "Print to File" checkbox and now clicking on "Print".
Have you already tried printing from a computer where BarTender and the printer driver are locally installed and to which the printer is directly attached to?

Yes,
I have directly hooked up a 220Xi3 Plus to the server via USB.
I don't see any "Print to File" check box.

You can set the port for your printer instance to be "File" and at print time, when printing via BarTender, it will ask you for the name of this print file. Make sure to first enable "Allow Static Objects", "Allow Variable Data Optimization" optimizations and now produce the print file and attach for us to examine.

Domingo,
I have done this but the site won't allow me to upload it. It tells me "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file".

In this case, you will better need to report this via email to the corresponding tech-support office:
