How To Collate Multiple Label Templates?
SCENARIO:
Label 1, Label 2, Label 3 are printed from the same printer. Source system creates a text file for each with 100 lines. Text format is identical for each file, with the only variance being the file name, and within the file itself an incrementer. Commander uses the files to trigger the print job for each. Files are created at the same time, and Commander picks them up in whatever order it happens to see them, so we get 100 of Label 1, followed by 100 of Label 2, followed by 100 of Label 3.
Operators then manually grab a label from each 100 set for their final product.
REQUIREMENT:
All labels must be printed in sets of three.
Option 1: Print one label at a time. Commander can print Label 1, then rename the file to a trigger for Label 2, and the same for 3.
Problem: Horrendously slow and requires interaction from operator after each set of three.
Option 2: Commander or Bartender somehow can collate all these labels and give me 100 sets of 3 per set. Can this be done? i have Bartender 9.4 but can upgrade to 10+ if necessary.
Thanks very much!

I believe the template functionality can handle this. I'm not sure what version this started in, but you can print multiple label formats from one set of data.

With this you would only need 1 file with 100 records ... and I forgot to add the screen shot :)

Thanks, Slickson. That seems exactly what I need. 9.4 has no such tab; I see the others but Templates tab isn't there. I presume I'll need to upgrade to 10+.

Here I go answering my own question..apparently there's certain features only available by version your using Im using "professional" Version to check what you can and cant do by version go to Help>Edtion Requirements>list all edition specific features. So label lover you need 10 "automation" Edition

Hi Cee, sorry on the late response on this. I recently updated to 10.1 and I do see templates. I'm on enterprise automation. This has been an ongoing request and, once I fiddle around with it, it looks like I can report back some positive findings. Thanks again for your help and Slickson! :)

HI, I have this going now in 10.1
It turns out that of a single set I need one label of each of the first three templates and FOUR of the fourth. Other than making four templates that are the exact same, has anybody got an example of VBScript or a design setting that would let me tell the fourth template to print four times?
Thanks!!
