The prn file doesn't look like ZPL however I don't have a good idea of what printer language that is.

    Make sure that..

    - Seagull driver for the Zebra Printer has installed.

    - On BarTender print dialog, the Zebra printer has selected.

    - Not printed via Terminal server easy print (redirect client printer for remote desktop) etc.

Create a simple bartender document with a barcode and a text with Zebra font (Zebra Triumvirate etc) and print to file for check.

It is been sent out as a graphic rather than ZPL.

On the Symbology and Size option make sure the Print Method is set to the bottom option (the Printer controls the barcodes....)

Are you using a ZDesigner driver or one of Seagull's? If the former I would suggest you retry using the Seagull driver.

I an having this issue with a QR code. I get the graphic format for the QR code, not ZPL. On the same label I have a data matrix and the ZPL is output to file for this object. Using the seagull driver and have checked the box "barcodes controlled by the printer and text controlled by Bartender"

    Michael, thanks for your post!

I've installed the 96XiIIIPlus Zebra printer driver (2020.4 Seagull driver) and I was able to print the QR code to a file just fine (the QR code uses the ^BQN tag). In the Print Method for the barcode, it is set to barcode controlled by the printer.

Additionally, I added a Data Matrix barcode and the correct tags for both barcodes appear.

Can you verify that you're using the latest Seagull driver?

    Thanks!

Success with the updated drivers and these choices: Symbology = QR Code, Symbol Version = Auto , Specification = QR Code 2005, Mask = Auto, Mode = Auto, Text Encoding = Auto, Error Correction = L.

If I change Symbol Version to 5 (37 x 37) then the QR is output in graphic format. Setting symbol version to 5 maintains the dimensions of the QR code when the length of the encoded URL changes. When Symbol Version = Auto, a QR code with a shorter URL will cover a smaller area. Different problem.

Michael, thanks for your response, I'm glad to hear that it has helped. I did some follow-up testing and it looks like when the Mask is set to anything but Auto, the ZPL for the symbology is turned into graphic code (rasterized).

I'm not sure why that's the case but I highly suggest that you open a ticket with Technical Support; once they know about it, they can do a bit more research on it.

    Thanks again!

I spent some time reviewing and working with the ZPLII program documentation yesterday and comparing ZPL settings with the Bartender settings. I believe ZPL does not have an equivalent setting for the Symbol Version option in Bartender.
