Dialog windows will not appear when running Commander in Service mode as it is a non-interactive service, it is not able to display the prompts, if you have prompts on the label and they need to be utilized when printing, then Commander has to be run in application mode as this is an interactive instance and will allow the prompts to be displayed and used.

Is there any way around this? As running Commander as an application also doesn't run automatically and you need to manually start this up every time you reset the computer. Can Commander be used to possibly start up a seperate .NET program that will allow us to select different aspects we want to print and also the print dialogue box?

Please note that the limitation on service interaction with users is a Windows setting and cannot be avoided.
Wouldn't it be easier to enter the required data through your application and add it to the trigger file, so BarTender loads that data into the document using the trigger file as source?
Cheers

Hi,
Yesterday I upgraded our Bartender 9.2 version to 10.1 Automation.
I´m running Commander in application mode, but no dialog prompts are popping up anymore.
The label just starts printing, ignoring the dialog prompt.
In 9.2 dialog prompts were popping up.
When I access this label in Bartender and try to print in that way,
I do get a dialog prompt.
What can be the problem ?
The (unchanged since 9.2) command that is executing is as follows:
NVM, FIXED IT BY DOING THE FOLLOWING (FOUND IN OTHER TOPIC) !
Go to Detection > BarTender Command Handler Setup
Change the Visible Windows to Interactive Dialogs
/AF="V:\Bartender labels\commander labels\huisman label Rob.btw" /PRN="\\Winschoten\Printer 02: HP LaserJet 2420" /P /C=1 /D="%Trigger File Name%" /DD

Rob

Hello,
Please note that the purpose of Commander middleware is controlling BarTender from within other programs without having to write code. Instead, Commander automatically wakes up BarTender to print labels in response to any of a variety of predefined events generated by a controlling program. So, can you let us know why you want to display the prompt dialog? Maybe Print Station can solve your request better than Commander?
Thanks,
Carlos

If you do require to get the dialog on screen, you will need to activate the "Detection>Show All Running BarTenders" option. This will "show" any BarTender process running.
In any case, using Commander is meant to run as a background process without any user interaction. Could you clarify why exactly would you need a user prompt when running Commander?
Thanks

Hi guys,
Sorry for the late reply.
We have a program which makes an csv.export whenever a delivery is made.
At print time I need to make a selection of type of packaging,iE:
Pallet
Europallet
Display
I cannot export these option from the program unfortunately,
so I really need the prompt.
I know I could also use Print Station, but I like the fact that I do not have
to click on the label first :)

Hello Walker,
If you need the prompt and wish to use Commander then you only need to set Commander to run as an application (from the "Administer>Service Setup..." dialog) and activate the "Detection>Show All Running BarTenders...". With the latter activated, each time a trigger file appears the document will open on BarTender with the data from the trigger file loaded, and it will show you the prompt for your to enter the required information.
Regards.
