Server And Clients
I have 1 server (Windows Server 2008) and 5 clients (Windows 7).
I want to install BarTender Automation.
I want to make and print labels on all our clients and share all created labels.
The program BarTender has many modules.
What do I have to install on the server and what on the client?
I think the server needs:
- The printerdriver
- SLS License Server
- Commander
- BarTender
The client needs:
- The full installation without commander and SLS?
Where do I have to install the MSSQL server for the logs?
Many thanks for your help in advance.
Kind regards,
Maarten

1. License Server that handles the printer based licensing should be installed on one computer only. It makes sense that this is the server.
2. All of the rest can be installed on each of the clients or server depending on your wishes. Obviously if BarTender at least is not on the clients, then there wouldn't be much point to them.
3. Commander is often used for centralized printing, which integrates with some other computer system, so it would make sense to only run it from the server. Note that if you run Commander you will also need BarTender and potentially other Suite applications.
4. If you have the Automation edition, then you can only log data to the BarTender System Database on the same computer. Only the Enterprise Automation edition supports centralized data logging to one SQL server.0 -

Hi Where can I find all the detail steps to perform the installation in the server and clients?

The Getting Started manuals is your best bet.

I am so frustrated, I have read these manuals and I still do not understand how the bartender client-server configuration works. (in version 10)
My company will upgrade to version 10. I know the Bartender is already installed in one test server including the Seagull License Server, I have installed the bartender in one PC that has a local printer. What is next? How can I connect to bartender server from that client/station?
In the previous version there was a way to get connected to a server in the general options menu, in the licences Management Tab, there was a checkmark "automatically find seagull license server" or there was a section "preferred" in that section there was field "Address" there I could point to my server name or server IP.... I do not find those options anymore..help!! SOS!!

This dialog was moved from v9.10 onwards and can be located via the "Administer>Licensing Setup" menu item. I will have a word with our technical authors as I note that neither the manual or License Server white paper specifies where to configure BarTender/License Server communication.Sorry for the stress.0

Your BarTender is still running as the Trial edition. Therefore you need to activate each BarTender client via the "Help>Activate this software" menu item using the same PKC as used to activate License Server. Only then will the menu item be visible.
