Changing the barcode type has fixed this for me in the past. I just use CODE 128.

    Should do the trick.

    Hello:

I am new to the forum so any help is greatly appreciated.

We are implementing a Wireless Warehouse Management Solution and our warehouse users will be using Motorola Symbol MC9190 guns. I am trying to create a label in Bartender that connected to an Excel spreadsheet that lists in three separate columns, their username, password and database. The reason I am using this method is that when the user logs into the Remote Desktop Connection, they need to type in their username/password. It cannot be saved with the Default.

I open Microsoft Word Pad on the device and when I scan the username, it will read +p+g+o+o+d+w+i+n. I am using CODE 39 Full ASCII. I also have the Start and Stop character set to use *. The human readable font is correct. It will show the username without the plus symbols.

Should I use a different barcode symbology?

Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Just in case anyone else has a similar issue: the problem is that your scanner is not configured for Full ASCII mode of Code 39. Full ASCII is simply a variant of Regular Code 39 that encodes characters that didn't exist in the original Code 39 specification. The plus in front of the letter is how lowercase letters are encoded.

If you have a choice in barcode symbology, Code 128 or Code 93 are always better choices than Code 39 anyway. But if you need Code 39 Full ASCII to work, you need to configure your scanner to enable "Full ASCII" or "Extended" mode for Code 39.
