Serialization Restarts Randomly Seguir

From times to times it happens that serialization on lables restarts. We have experienced this issue when a printer has been paused and when it starts again the serialization starts over from 1 again. Most of the time it has hapened when a printer has been paused over night. The problem is much randomly, we are printing every day with a lot of different lables and I guess we have seen this problem aprox. 5 times/year.

Anyone who has experienced this problem?

Anyone, Please

Attached is one label in wich we have seen the problem, though im pretty sure the problem is not there...

We are using Bartender 10.0 and all printing is from printstation. We are using Zebra printers and we have seen the problem on different printers. The problem has occurred on both network printers and local printers.

I am still fighting with this problem and I have done a lot of challenging tests.

I suspect that my problem is lost communication during pause of job.

When printing small series eg. 10 lables if I shut of printer during job, the job disappeares. Fine, this is not a problem, we can load the job again.

When printing large series eg. 1000 lables if I shut of printer during job, the job continues but not from where it was when I shut of the printer. I have seen it restart from 0, from 1 and from 101

Haven´t anyone experienzed similar problems?

We can pass this problem by explaining in an standard operating procedure but it would be better to find a settlement for it. Any ideas?

Hello Oskarchelin,

When sending a print job to a printer, the serialization is "saved" in the printer's buffer, if you then turn off the printer, or unplug it, the system might need to "resend" the print job which will always restart from the beginning of the serialization. Initially there is no other reason for the printer to start over with a serialized label. if the printer is not being restarted, but only paused, the problem might be in your firmware or the actual printer. Try resetting it to factory defaults and making sure its firmware is up to date (even so re-installing the firmware might purge any possible printer's firmware corruption).

If you wish to make sure that when a printer fails the serialization starts where it was left, you'll need to send a separate print job per serialized label. This way if the printer fails or it's turned off no information will be lost.

Cheers.

Thank you very much for your answer :-) I will take a closer look on all firmwares.

Hi Again!

We still experience problem with serialization restarting. Out of the blue a printer can stop, freeze for a couple of minutes and then just start printing from 1.

Can you explain how I send a separate print job per serialized label?
