Universal Print Driver Issues
We are currently using Bartender 9.2 Enterprise in a Windows XP/2003/2008 environment.
The client software is installed on the required workstations and talk to a centralized license server. Our ERP/MRP software creates a .btw file into the working directory of Bartender and calls the local client application to print the form with the barcode the the corresponding HP LaserJet printer.
We are in process of moving to a new print server for the environment and would like to take advantage of HP Universal Print driver to save on the number of drivers loaded on the server/clients. The universal print driver works perfectly all the way until we need to print something that is sent to Bartender. At this point the print job renders and clears the queue but at the print device the printer is blinking in error and states "49.2047 ERROR" and you have to reboot the printer to get it back. We have tried both the PCL and PS version of the Universal Print driver and this happens each time we print through Bartender. Switch the driver to the designated printer driver (eg. LaserJet 4250 PS) and Bartender prints correctly.
Has anyone experienced this problem with Bartender and HP Universal Print Drivers before? If so is there a fix for it?

Found a fix.
On all the clients install the latest patch level of SR2.
Map to the new print queue.
Open each form and FILE > PRINT in the name drop down box select the newly mapped printer, save out.
Push the updated forms to each of the clients.
Seems to work now, at least in testing, production could be a different story!0 -
Yes, selecting the specific driver in the label format has the affect of embedding that printer driver's DEVmode into the label format. I suspect that BarTender was keeping some residule setting from the other driver and trying to use it in the universal driver. I would expect your solution to fix the problem completely. 0
