You may want to go into your .btw file, make sure the PDF printer is selected, and then go into your page setup (File > Page Setup) to adjust the page size there.

You can definitely print PDFs from BarTender if you do that. I have been doing it for a long time, but I almost always have to confirm the page setup screen is correct and specifying the page size I want.

Thanks a lot for your help. I appreciate it.
As you pointed out, I modified the .btw file so that the printer is Bullzip PDF Printer and the paper-size too (File > Page Setup).
And it generated the Pdf with the correct size. yeah...

If I may, I have another question.
Is it possible to automate the steps to modify what is in the .btw (for example: the target printer and paper-size) programmatically  instead of doin it by manually?

    Thanks again for your help.

Make sure you saved the label after setting the page setup.  Depending on your PDF driver, you might need to create a custom size in the driver and then select that for your page setup in BarTender.  Again, save the document once changes have been made.

Does anyone know a PDF-printerdriver, which automatically supports customer paper-sizes. We have been using Foxit 2.0, but the newer versions do not support this.

Our proces is to generate automatically PDF-labels (different sizes) with Bartender in combination with a PDF-printer-driver.

It seems that PDF Creator supports custom page sizes.  Not sure about the automatic side of the question though.

When integrating with a PDF printer how do you select where to save the file and any file naming structures?

Seb Atkins: You set the destination folder in the settings of the PDF driver utility.  Where to find this varies, depending on the driver solution you choose to use.

When I try printing to PDF always get a blank label.  It looks fine in the designer, but always prints just the watermark in version 2019.  In older versions the page is simply blank.   Initially was printing to Microsoft PDF printer, then after reading this thread tried PDFCreator and made a customer paper size the same as the label.   The result was the same (blank).

I've tried PDF, JPG and PNG image settings in PDFCreator.   Any suggestions?

Richard: BarTender 2019 supports printing to PDF natively, without the need to use a third party printer driver.  You will see it listed as "PDF" in the printer list of BarTender.  I suggest you use that instead.

Thanks.  Works great from within the designer.

I'm troubleshooting an issue using the .NET SDK, however.  Is there any way to make "PDF" a local PC printer?

Richard: As of BT2019 R4 you would need to make the document with the native PDF printer already selected.  In a future release we would hope to make PDF selectable as a printer at print time via automation, but this is not possible just yet I believe.

Is the use of PDF as a printer via automation now available in BT2021?

Yes BarTender has a built in PDF driver in 2021.

Kali: Furthermore, when you build a Print Document action in the Integration Builder choose "PDF" as the printer, and from there you can also adjust the file name and location using the Builder's UI, and even make use of integration variables if you wish them to be set dynamically.

Thank you for the responses. I appreciate those instructions on using the native PDF printer in Integration Builder. Can this functionality be used when making a print call via SDK? Can the file name/location be set using a property?

PDF created with the BT built-in PDF printer are 4 - 10x the size of those created with BullZip. Not acceptable.

Hi Darrell, thank you for your post.

Make sure that you're on the latest build of whichever version of BarTender you're on (BarTender 2019 is on R9 and BarTender 2021 is on R4).

This is a pretty basic post on how to print to PDF; if you're having issues, please consider opening a separate ticket with Technical Support from this link. We've actually discovered issues with the native PDF driver when you're printing with certain fonts but it's difficult to tell for sure based on your post.

    Thanks again!

I would also like to know if this functionality can be used when making a call to print via the SDK. Specifically when calling btApp.XMLScript( ). Also would like to be able to set the filename and location to save the file.

It looks like it could be a font issue, you could try changing the font you are using or else, if your PDF driver supports this, add the fonts you want to the driver/decive
