Sequenced label record writing
Hello,
I am new to the software and have been trying for a few days to complete the following task. Our company sends print jobs to a printer with a sequential field, printing them in batches. An operator prints 100 labels, and each label is printed and applied when a photo eye is triggered. The labels read something like piece 1, piece 2, piece 3, etc.
I am looking for a way to log when each label is printed or applied, either to a file or a database. I have tried using Administer -> Log Setup
to log messages and print jobs, but when I select "Print," it instantly logs all the records for the entire job, rather than logging each label as it is physically printed. I have also tried using document-level actions (For Each Record
, For Each Serial Number
, Print Job Sent
), but these also log the entire job immediately instead of logging each label individually.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to achieve the goal of logging a record when each label is printed?

BarTender creates the print commands and sends these to the printer when you press print on the PC and it is the device itself that prints the individual labels and so you would need to integrate the printer to tell you when it actually prints them.
ie when you send a print job to print 100 labels to the printer the whole printer file is sent to the device and as far as BarTender is concerned the whole print job has been printed.
