Bartender Freezing while trying to setup database connection
My Bartender freezes every time I try to do a Database Connection Setup on my computer. It has been working fine for the past month or so on this computer and only just recently started having this issue. I have Bartender installed on multiple other computers in my warehouse and none of the others are having this issue. If I click on the Database Connection icon or try to set it up under the file menu the program will freeze completely and I will have to terminate the program. Everything else seems to work fine. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times with no success.

OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 build 17134
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried creating a new label and then linking to the same database or a different database?
Can you open the database from that PC with any other program?

Same thing happened to me. We're running version 11.0.8.3153. This happens when I create a brand new label format.
@Peter, it happens for me before the database setup screen even comes up. Not to put words in Tyler's mouth but it sounds like he has the same issue.

Tyler's problem seems to be a single PC specific hence why I asked the questions for that machine.
Not sure what database you are trying to connect to but you may want to download and install the Microsoft Access Database Engine in case the ODBCs are where the problem lies.

@Eric exactly! I have bartender running on 15 other PCs without issue. But for some reason mine will not even let me open up a database setup without freezing. It was working fine for months then all of the sudden has this issue.

It's not an issue with a specific database. I can't even get to the point of selecting a database. As soon as I choose 'Database Connection Setup' it freezes. It doesn't matter what label I am using either. I can try an existing one or create a new one and it will freeze immediately upon trying to begin a database connection.

It could be possible that the BarTender database connection setup window is off the screen or hidden. I would suggest trying the following keyboard shortcut to move the database connection setup window to see if it reappears.
- Press and hold the Alt+Spacebar+ M keys
- Hit any arrow key once
- Move your mouse until you see the window.

Tyler Davidson - I am having the same problem trying to update a password on a database connection. Tried Jasper Wen's suggestion - no luck. This started about 2 days ago.

Go to the windows user profile, Remote subfolder and delete Seagull folder.

If Bartender works fine for other windows profiles (try running bartender as different user), than will work for you. Just delete the folder <C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Seagull>

Hi, Need Help .........
I am having problem with Data Connection when trying to set up link ... My Bartender application freeze and do not allow me to navigate on any option. I been told by support to re install which I did but I still have issue? now I even updated with Bartender professional R8.
Please Please Someone help me to get away with this problem. Kind Regards

Did you try using the BT with other windows user?
If problem is software related than uninstall BT, uninstall SQL, delete all dependency folders (BT and Seagull), clean the registry and than install new version.
Before you start uninstalling and deleting, copy all templates.

Hi ..... Again Thank you Niola i did uninstalled and it started working fine. I manage to print some but Yesterday i am facing same issue. Is there any proper fix for this issue. Is Bartender tech/support team taking any action or fix? or shall I use other software going forward. i wasted 3 to 4 hours of my time working on this issue and didn't get that fix. I also logged Help call. I have project coming up next week.
Is there any proper fix for this issue?

Hi. For me, this problem appeared after the physical transfer of the computer...
I have two monitors connected to the computer .
During the transfer of the computer I mistakenly connected the monitors the other way round.
Which caused the above described error .
Solution: Swapping monitor cables which resulted in the appearance of a database window

I found that i had a similar issue to Marcin. While working at a work desk with extended display, the database connection window is popping up on the extended screen. When I go to the label printing area with just my laptop, I assume the box was still trying to popup on the extended display. So I moved the popup box back to my main display and saved my work before disconnecting from extended display.
