BarTender Designer 2021 error #2622 on Windows 10 Pro version 21H1
BarTender 2021 has been working fine for me since I installed it earlier this year. Last time I opened it was about two weeks ago, and it worked fine. However went to open it today, double clicking on the shortcut icon on the desktop, and the Loading screen comes up as per usual then disappears and then an error message window appears.
Bartender: Error Message #2622
Permission Denied
User: BRENT-SB3\brent
Action: Run
Application: Bar Tender
Bar Tender's security policy does not allow the specified user to perform this action.
In fact, all BarTender applications, such as Administration Console, fail to open and report the same error. I have set BarTender applications to "Run as Administrator". Makes no difference. I can't change any security settings in BarTender because I cannot open the Administration Console.
The Windows Update KB5000802 was installed back in March 2021, but BarTender has continued to work, so uninstalling that windows update is not the answer. There has been only one windows update since last time BarTender Designer worked, which is KB5006670. But reading about it on microsoft web site, I don't see how this update would effect BarTender.
Anyone else experiencing this issue or know how to fix it?
Thanks
Brent

If you can get into Admin Console or if not from Task Manager, you may want to check all the BarTender services are running. I seem to recall seeing something like this a while ago and one of the services had stopped for some reason (there had been a recent Windows update) and when it was restarted access was allowed again. I think it was the BarTender System Service in my instance.

I think you are onto something here. Opened the services app and manually started BarTender System Service, as it was not running although startup type is set to automatic. But after clicking Start, following error message appeared: Windows could not start BarTender System Service on Local Computer. Error 1075: The dependency service does not exist or is marked for deletion.
So I clicked on Properties for BarTender System Service, clicked the Dependencies tab, and the only service it is dependent on is Net.tcp Port Sharing Service. So I checked that service and it is running. What do I do now?
In terms of windows updates, I uninstalled all updates for the last month, rebooted, and problem still exists, same error. Thinking about what has changed in last two weeks, I now wonder if the upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro has broken something? After the upgrade, I then installed Hyper-V, VMware and VirtualBox, as I wanted to evaluate them. Could the win pro upgrade or install of the virtual machine software programs be the cause? If so, why and how?

I just uninstalled the virtual machine software programs, rebooted, and sorry to say, problem has not been fixed. The BarTender System Service will not start, it gets that error 1075.
I don't want to revert back to windows 10 home. Really want bartender to work on windows 10 pro version 21h1.

I have just read the post Error 1075: Could not start BarTender System Service on local computer by Domingo Rodriguez. I learnt that BarTender System service besides being dependent on net.tcp port sharing service, it is also dependent on Message Queueing and SQL Server (Bartender).
Message queueing is now installed and operational and now displays as a dependency under BarTender System Service. The SQL Server (bartender) service is running, but is not listed as a dependency under BarTender System Service. When starting BarTender System Service, I still get the error 1075. How do I get SQL Server (bartender) as a dependent? SQL Server is installed and running. Do I need to uninstall then re-install Bartender?

All fixed. I uninstalled BarTender then re-installed it, and now it opens.

This often occurs on my system. Here are my usual strategies:
1. Reboot the system
2. If rebooting is not an option, restart the BarTender System Service
3. Also try to remove the C:\ProgramData\Seagull Security\ folder
Cheers, Dallas

Hi Everyone,
I have found a solution that worked for me for the "Bar Tender's security policy does not allow the specified user to perform this action" error.
I encountered the same issues as described above. I checked the Windows Event Viewer - Windows Logs - Systems on the computer running BarTender and there were 3 errors relating to the issue, the 3 errors were related to the Net.TCP Port Sharing Service, which failed to Start and timed out. This in turn caused the BarTender System Service to time out or not respond.
I googled the Net.TCP Port Sharing Service error, and it said that this service requires NET 3.5 to run.
The solution is to open Control panel - Uninstall a Program - Turn Windows features on or off - under .NET Framework 3.5 turn on the WCF options.
Then reboot the computer and open BarTender.
On another computer which was also getting the BarTender permissions error, the WCF options were already turned on/activated.So, I turned off the WCF options under .NET 3.5, rebooted the computer, turned back on the WCF options under .NET 3.5, rebooted the computer again and BarTender then opened without errors.

Same issues here. and Error 2622 comes day after day.
Reinstall fixes this until the next day, then the same...Turning WCF options under .NET 3.5 on does just help.
We have Windows 10 and 11 Clients runnig, al are just normal Users with Admin permissions.Anybody solved this Problem? Seagull Support is not a help here until now...
