Exporting compact edition database to sql
How can I export the .sdf compact edition database so I can import it to full sql.
I use SQL Mgt Studio and added the extension to allow to connect to sdf DB.
I point this to the two .sdf under printer maestro folder but it errors out. It is asking for a password.
I tested this on new install so not sure why there is a password set. Plus why is there two sdf files? UniversalData, Peercache.
What database do I need to convert it to full sql database?
Thank you for reaching out to us on our Community Forums.
Can you provide more details on want it is you want to achieve?
Are you trying to move the BarTender System Database to your full version of SQL? Or is there a specific reason that you are trying to transfer those Printer Maestro sdf files?
Thanks for replying.
My goal is to migrate the Bartender database which is sql compact edition to the full version of sql.
The compact edition has reached end of life support by Microsoft. There is a process to migrate the to full sql.
However when I attempted to access the Bartender DB I ma getting access denied and asked for password which is set by the vendor it appears. This happed on a production DB and as well as on a "test" installation of a trial version install of the application. The password is not set by the user or the admin.
I need to know what is the process of migrating the DB off of a compact edition for Bartender.0
Can you confirm the BarTender version you have installed?
We recommend referring to the article How to move BarTender System Database to a new computer server to be able to accomplish this. As indicated in that article, using Microsoft's SSMS you'll be able to Back Up the database then Restore it.
The BarTender System Database uses the SQL Express edition by default.
To clarify, the Microsoft SQL CE is a required set of libraries that enables accessing a file using relational database methods. It does not have anything to do with the BarTender System Database. The two files referenced in the compact edition wouldn't be included.
