Integration with BTXML and print server routing issues
I have an Integration setup to access BTXML and in the BTXML I specify the printer in the <printer></printer> tags. This works perfectly when the printer is locally installed on the Integration server. Seagull recommended that we use a print server architecture instead and in order to test that I have installed one of our printers on a remote server and shared it. I have no problems at all printing to it from BarTender Designer running on the Integration server and printing to the shared printer on that remote server. But trying to do this by specifying the network path to the shared printer just refuses to work. The Integration does print but it prints on one of the many printers on the Integration server. Remote printing just won't work. I'm using the \\server\printer syntax for the printer tag. Does anyone have any similar experiences to this and is there some trick to making this work?

Hi Kenneth,
Thank you for reaching us via our Community Forums!
This could be an issue with default user permissions. By default, all Integration services are executed with the Local System account, which usually lacks enough permissions to access the necessary web resources.
We can fix this by going to the User Account settings in Integration Builder and assigning a user account with enough permissions to print to those printers:
I hope this helps!0 -

I wouldn't know of a different account to use here. This is a production environment and I can't add new users myself on the fly. If you don't mind please elaborate.
Also in previous posts you indicated that for optimal performance we should use locally defined printers on the Integration server. This will be a very high volume environment so do you think the sending of print request to remote printers is not even a good idea?
