Hello Matt,

To me, it looks like you're wanting to print your labels directly from Excel by automating BarTender in the background, more than having BarTender connect to your Excel spreadsheet.

You could automate BarTender by using Visual Basic in your Excel macro based spreadsheet. Please take a look at the below White Papers:

BarTender's ActiveX Automation Interface
http://s3.amazonaws.com/SeagullBarTender/ftp/WhitePapers/WhitePaper_BarTendersActiveXAutomationInterface.pdf

BarTender's .NET SDKs
http://s3.amazonaws.com/SeagullBarTender/ftp/WhitePapers/WhitePaper_BarTenders.NET_SDKs_English.pdf

And you can also find further help on the different ActiveX - .NET SDK methods you can use by opening BarTender, pressing the F1 key to open BarTender's Help and visiting the "Automating BarTender" topic.

No it doesn't. It sounds like he wants to print in BarTender using data from a .xlsm file.

If that doesn't work directly, Matt, I would just File > Save As from your .xlsm file (After you've used the macro to create the data), and then save a copy of all the data to a .xls file and link that one.

One more - to work with Office 2007 / 2010 files(xlsx, xlsm, accdb), you need to install MS Office 2007 / 2010 on the PC you running BarTender.
(For .xls / mdb, you don't need MS office in your PC - Windows MDAC take that. actually I recommend this.)

If you don't have MS office 2007 / 2010 in your PC you can download database engine.
Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010
(Install x86(32bit)driver even though you run x64 OS, since BarTender is 32bit app.)

Reboot after install and try again.

new here. Since the bar Tender is for Label, Barcode, RFID and Card Printing., can I use it to print barcode or label in Excel 2013?

Hello Hongdida,

Please note that BarTender is a separate application from MS Word, if you wish to actually print from Excel using BarTender as the print engine, you'll need to automate it with a Visual Basic code (using our .NET SDKs or ActiveX).

Could you clarify exactly what you are trying to do?

Regards.

Hello, I have the same issue connecting to an .xlsm file, but in my case I can connect to this file with now issues from one computer, but receive an error message about the incorrect format when trying to connect from another computer. Both computers have the same version and installation of the BarTender (Automation), both have Office 2013 installed... Same permissions to the file... I just don't understand why it works from one computer and not from the other. What other parameters can I check? Can it be due to certain OLE DB drivers or some Excel settings?

Thank you.
