Can`t Save The Preview Filled From Database S’abonner

Is it possible to start filling the template from Database in Bartender, so I can save it as .btw.

I`d tryed it with starting the print-preview but if I try to save it, the saved file only shows the empty

template. Is this a bug?

Goal is to fill the template from an Excelsheet database and store it separate in a .btw file.

I'm not sure I understand what you wish to achieve.

BarTender documents, when connected with a database, work as templates. This means that when sending a print job BarTender will load the data from the database to the specified data sources in the template, and print a single label per record (unless specified a different thing).

For this to work, BarTender needs to have the database available at print time. You cannot save the information from the database inside the BarTender document.

For more information on how BarTender reads data from a database, please take a look at the below training video:

...thank you for your quick help. Yes, this is the normal database function but we need an already existing .btw file for our CD-Printer from Rimage.

We`ve got about 1600 different CDs to burn with 1600 different labels based in an Excelsheet.

I´ve created a master layout with databasefields, now I go to the printpreview and select -select at printjob- -preview-

now I can select witch row in my database I wish to print. Here it shows me the filled template -everything works fine.

I save the filled preview-template in a .btw -file, o.k. but if I open the file  it only shows me my master-layout :( .

Could you let me know what version of BarTender are you working with? Database preview at design time was only available from v9.4 onwards.

Apart from not being able to preview the data loaded in your document at design time, what other problem does this cause you? Is there any error on the data at print time? Do you wish to be able to select your records at print time (maybe adding a query)?

we`re running Vers.10.0.

The Problem is that the Burning/Printstation  surface only accept  .btw or .pdf  files.

If I understand your question correctly, you're designing a BarTender document which you will later want to print with the Rimage Software (called Quick Disk if I'm not mistaken). For the printed surface of the CD you would want Quick Disk to use the .btw BarTender document, and print 1 database record per CD you will print. This way, all the CD's will have a different printed surface. Is my assumption correct?

Are you printing your CD's directly with BarTender or through the Rimage disk producer software "Quick Disk"?

...yes, this is alright. We only need Bartender to create .btw  but for printing we use QuickDisk.

For this type of question I think you will really need to talk to Rimage, but I believe that when printing the .btw cover via QuickDisk, only the first label of the preview is going to be printed (so, all covers will have exactly the same content). However, in order to be sure on this, please make contact with Rimage on this.
