BarTender is fully compatible with Windows 7 from v9.20 or higher.  If you have an earlier version then this is probably a compatibility issue you're dealing with.

    Hello,

Is it possible that you didn't install BarTender under a Windows account without enough permission? Maybe BarTender is experiencing a permission issue and is crashing for it.

That I would suggest to do is a full remove of BarTender and reinstall under a Windows account with enough permission. For it:

    1.    Uninstall BarTender via Windows “Add or Remove Programs” which you can find in Windows control panel.

    2. Delete the following folder

    “C:\Program Files(x86)\Seagull\BarTender Suite”.

    3.    Delete the BarTender registry entries by doing the following.

    * Open the registry editor

    (“Start>Run>Regedit>OK”).

    * Navigate to the following registry key.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Seagull Scientific

*Right click on this key and select “Delete”.

    * Repeat this for the key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Seagull Scientific

    4.       Install BarTender under a Windows account with enough permission.

Try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64) and let us know if it helps to solve your crashing issues:

    Hi all,

I installed Bartender with administrator rights.

And also Microsoft Visual C++ is installed.

I will try reinstallation with clearing registry items

That doesn't seem to be SP1 for the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable component. Please make sure that you install SP1.

Hi there:  Exact same problem on Window 7 x64.

I installed the Visual C++ as above and rebooted - still crashes.

On this computer, can you try logging under a different Windows account, such as a local admin? Will you then still have the same problem?

Do you see some recent dump files under the following Windows folder (the folder might be hidden, so you first need to show it):

    "C:\ProgramData\Seagull\BarTender\Dump"

If yes, then you might wish to report this issue via email to our tech-support offices:
