Turning Off 'saving' S’abonner
When using the Print station I get two errors after printing anything. It prints and I get the first Error message: "Error Message 3314. Could not save to file: (File path) Please check for file access rights and available disk space. Retry after corrective action has been taken." then I hit 'ok' and get the second error message; it's the same as the first one just in a different error message dialog box.
How do I change the file so it doesn't try to save at all? I don't want other users to be able to change the label format or save it. They just need to be able to print from the Print Station and continue what they're doing.
Also, the labels are saved on the network, which seems to cause problems in general anyway...

Note that in Administration set-up you can choose to not display errors if you wish.
Could it be that the label format has a serial number on it? If it has then this is why it might be saving in order to update the next serial number to print which is stored in the label file.

We don't think the label has a serial number. The data's all getting pulled from a database connection, with a saved username and password.
How would we disable the error messages?
Instead you can diable this message in BarTender via the "Administer>Application Message Setup" menu item. Find the #3314 error message and then untick the, "Dialog (Interactive use only)" check box.

This took care of the first error message but the second one, in the Print Station's Dialog box, still pops up.
Scroll down and click the "Choose File" button, select the file and then make sure you click to attach it.

There's no "Choose File" button on my page.
This has been an issue since day 1 on the forums, in that non-admins cannot seem to post files. The ability to do so would be great, especially to share .btw formats.

Yeah and there's a supposed 'gallary' on our profiles. I tried that and got an error message. It's irritating...
Now all I get is this error-where before this one would pop up after I hit 'ok' on the first one:
WHat I really need is to be able to disable the file from trying to save at/after a print job, is it possible?
Also:
I sent the problem in by email to the SeaGull Tech Support yesterday. After telling me to disable everything for the message he said to tell him if it didn't work; I did around 3 yesterday and I've yet to hear back. Does anyone happen to know what hours the email support holds?

There are no local counters used (they are comming from the dB), so it would be great just disabling the saving procedure after printing...
The workaround is not realy an option for us. Having more than 400 different labels, I would not like to have another 400 Batchmaker Files...
Kind Regards,
Dominic
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thx!

Specifically, I have a pretty simple label reading off an Excel file. I did have a serialized field, because I need it to increment up with each copy of a label. However, even if I turn this off (and in Print Station I'm no longer asked for serialized copies--only the number of copies of the label), this error message persists (both of them, as original user of the thread mentions).
It appears the only way I can resolve this is to jack up permissions to an undesirable level so that the current user has write access to the folder with the print files.
Is there clear direction on a fix for this?

Our IT department has been in communications with Seagull about this issue, apparently there is a fix in an update for BT10. We are going to install it today, I'll let you know how it goes.
Cheers

Did the upgrade fix the issue? I'm running 9.4 right now and would love to NOT give all user write permission to the network folders where the label templates are stored (that is just bad practice).
It's terrible practice. I've had to do it anyway, since I couldn't wait, and the exposure is small right now.
If BT 10.0 fixes this, I'll deploy it.

Pressing 'No' would put us back into Print Station as normal, but it was still confusing to have this window pop up.
I believe (need to check with my IT guy) that we've also managed to make this box go away, but I need to get the details on that. I'll confirm once I touch base.

The admin login requester coming up is probably down to a problem with the way the software was installed, rather than a general issue on running the software.
So we updated to 10.0 SR2, and the saving error went away. However, once we got rid of that, when opening Print Station, a User Account Control window would pop up (attached).
