Zpl To Dpl Printer S’abonner

Hi,

I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum to ask this question.

We have a system which generates ZPL. But we have a Datamaxx I-4208 printer which I guess ONLY takes DPL as input.

The emulation software provided by Datamax does not support ZPL. http://www.datamax-oneil.com/do/com/en-us/home/printers-software/software/emulation

Just curious to know if there is a way we can print a ZPL file on I-4208 printer. Any sort of conversion we could do?

Thanks

There are various non-Zebra printers out there that offer a degree of ZPL emulation.  However, such emulation isn't 100% so if you are unable to get it to work with your particular labels then that would be the reason why.  Our solution for this problem is to not use hardcoded print language coming from your system, but to instead use BarTender at print time; along with the appropriate printer driver this will give you printer independence.

We have various tools and features that allow you to integrate your system with BarTender, such as the Commander middleware application, but the below white papers will give you further information on this.

Here we encounter a similar problem.

We have an Datamax I-4308 but we got a program from our customer to print 2D-barcode working with Zebra 110Xi4.

Does your software can do emulation?

Thanks

Ted Y. Liu: BarTender is a label design and printing application for Windows.  We also make printer drivers for both Datamax and Zebra printers.  Ordinarily, if you want to print to a Datamax printer, you use our Datamax printer driver and thus produce DPL printer code.  Conversely, if you want to print to a Zebra printer, you use our Zebra printer driver and thus produce ZPL printer code.  BarTender can be integrated with other computer systems by various means so that it can act as the print engine for that other system that isn't able to "talk" to the printer you want it to.

Ian,
Thanks for your flash response.

I am sorry that my description is not clear.

The issue is we are asked to print bar-code (used to past the label on the final product) by using customer application.

This application is integrated with database to ask printer to print the labels (with bar-code) after getting the authorized quantities.

Unfortunately, this software seems to be tighted with Zebra 110Xi4 printer but ours is Datamax i-4308.

Besides to get one Zenra 110Xi4 printer, we are looking for other solution like software emulator on PC.

Would you teach me your solution to this issue. Thanks a lot.

Are you saying that the application is using hardcoded ZPL, rather that generating it at print time with a printer driver, hence the need for a ZPL emulator on the Datamax?  I believe Datamax have some ZPL emulation solutions, you might wish to check with them to see if they can help you.

By the way, I see you're based in Taiwan.  It might be easier if you contact our Asian tech-support who are also based in Taiwan as communication might be easier for you...
