Odbc Setup Error
Hello,
I am just testing out the Bartender program to see if it will work for our company and I am having trouble setting up an ODBC connection.
I am looking to print tags that have our company fabric information on it. All the information I require is available within 8 libraries from our AS/400 database and I have linked all the libraries in the same manner as I do for our Crystal report (which works fine) but I get an error of Error Message #3209. Invalid Join Condition for Database <our database>. Row 1 and row 2 use the same tables.
Now the main table that the other 6 libraries are joined from (there is one library that is joined to one of the 6 libraries and not the main one) is called CTCLFL and each of the 6 libraries have at least 2 joins from the CTCLFL so I have 12 rows all starting with library CTCLFL and going to the 6 other libraries (2 joins each). But after it is done and I am in the "Database Connection Setup" dialog box and I click on the "SQL" tab or the "Browse" tab I get this error. If I hit "OK" to continue the Bartender program it doesn't save my ODBC database.
I am sorry but I have never used this program before and I am familiar with setting up reports within Crystal Reports but I don't know why I get this error.
If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
AJ

BarTender does currently not support doing a multi-database join by entering a circular table reference condition (where 1 field of a certain table/database appears in 2 join conditions) such as you do in Crystal Reports. This is currently in our wish list.
As the only current workaround, you could make a second (and third if needed...) connection to the same "database" tables, and then accomplish the join. However, this might end up with duplicate database tables so it might not be a very useful workaround.0 -

Domingo R. Please move this issue up on the priority list. This should be a no brainer. I too am facing issues linking multiple key between each table.

Any progress in ten years? This one is painful in that I can't directly import custom SQL builds into new labels, every time I have to create a bartender specific SQL or durdle through the connection wizard with slow waterfall drop downs and point and click.
