Need To Generate Individual Label Files From Database
I'm brand new at Bartender and trying to get labels migrated from an older (much older) label program. If I understand correctly, I can create a template and link fields to an Excel sheet and it will create all of the necessary labels when I print. What I'm wondering is if I can do the above and create separate files for each label. I need to be able to print each label separately.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you would not create a separate document for each label. At print time, there are many ways to choose what label from the Excel sheet you want.

Thanks for your reply. I do need to create individual label files. I need the shop people to be able to pull up a file and print them. If they have to go into a database and select what they want, it won't happen.

Mark,
There are more ways to select the record you want to print than going into the database and selecting it by hand. Including query prompts.
Were you able to view the linked video above?
To answer your question, no, there is not a direct way to automatically create one BarTender file per record with data from a database.

Thanks again for your reply. I did view the video. I have hundreds of files that are in different formats. Some items are in multiple formats. I need people who work in our shop (of varying capability with computers) to be able to print sheets of individual files as they need them. I've come to the conclusion that I need to create these files individually. I've noticed that they are able to see thumbnails of them in Windows Explorer. If necessary, they can always search them for the files there. With Bartender storing the print information with each file, they'll just have to open a file, click print and type in how many labels they need. I plan on using Bartender for many years to come, so I believe that investing the time now will save time and headaches down the road. I understand that there are times I will use it to connect to a database such as when I have to print out shelving labels where I have to print entire sets at a time. I do appreciate your help. That should about do it for this thread.

Mark,
I apologize if I misinterpreted your first question. I was of the understanding that all the labels were the same format but with just different data. If that is the case, working with a linked database is the solution.
If you're saying the labels are different formats, then making different files may be worthwhile. Further, you can implement BarTender Print Station for a user-friendly file browsing experience, without giving the users access to edit the formatting.

Yes, I had thought of that, also. And it definitely is a consideration. Thanks for helping me flesh this out.

Dear Topic starter,
we have the same problem. Did Print station work?
We also need the individual files to be printed by the technicians.
Before that, someone else enters the necessary information in the database and adjusts the resulting label up to standards. Technicians should only enter lot numbers and print.
Is this possible? Or did you find another solution?
Thank you

If every label is the same size and has the same (type) of information in the same place on the label then you can create a generic label and link that to your database and so at print time the technicians select the product they need to print and all the fixed/constant data for that product are printed onto the label. For variable print-time data, such as your lot number, you can link these fields on the label to a field on Data Entry Form as per the rough example screenshot below.
The information for the record selection and Data Entry fields can be entered by the Technicians at print time but they cannot move any fields or change the barcode type etc, from within Print Station
I hope this helps
The Data Entry form can be configured from the ringed Tab shown below
