Embedding Tab Function Within Barcode S’abonner

Hello,

I am trying to create a single barcode with tabs within it so it can fill multiple values on a screen.  I am using Code 39 Full ASCII but cannot get it to work.  Also I have enabled the Full ASCII function on my scanner.  I thought that adding $I at the end of the first data group would activate the Tab but instead it is showing up on the screen.

Am i going about this the wrong way?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

The typical tab commands that are available in the software are «HT» for hoizontal tab and «VT» for a vertical tab, you can look at the list of control characters by going to the Data Source tab of the barcode properties, then to the right hand side of the embedded data window is a blue icon that you can click on that has the symbols and special characters listed, in the window there is the Control Characters tab and all the different pre-set options are available.

If these options do not work then I would recommend referring to the manual for your scanner or their support for assistance with determining the correct code sequence that the scanner is expecting to see to pass the tab command.

Excellent, thank you!  That is what i was looking for.

By any chance is there a way to indicate multiple instances of the same function without repeating the <<HT>> over and over?  To populate some fields may require several tabs.

Thanks Again,

Tom

In BarTender the only way to pass mulitples would be to use the <<HT>> over for each one, there may be a setting that the scanner can utilize that would allow mulitple tabs from a single <<HT>>, you would have to inquire with the scanner manufacturer to see if they have an option that will allow that.

I have this same question but my data is being placed into web page fields in Internet Explorer. When I scan into notepad or excel I get the effect I want, however when I try in IE it opens my favorites and selects a web page. I'm guessing HT has some other affect in IE? Is there another way to do this that will allow me to tab and fill multiple fields in IE?
