Legacy Template Problem S’abonner

I have several templates made in BarTender 8.01 that when opened in BarTender 10.0 shows the image reversed (black as white and white as black).  Is there a way to quickly change them without re-creating the entire label?  Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the best would be that you contact one of our Seagull tech-support offices and include some of the affected BarTender documents, a screenshot of how the BT document shows in v8.01 and how it displays in BT v10.0. Are you using the same printer driver on both the 8.01 and the 10.0 installation?

I've talket to tech support, but they said they've never seen that before and "Have a nice day".  I have screen shots from both versions to show you part of what's happening.  See attached.

Could you try using the same printer make and model also in your BT v10 license (Intermec Easycoder PM4i (300 dpi) - IPL)? You can download a printer driver for this printer from our website:

http://www.bartenderbarcodesoftware.com/drivers/windows-printer-drivers-download.aspx

If you then still have the same issue, please attach one of these BarTender documents (.btw) for me to examine.

Out of curiosity, when you print the DataMatrix bar code with your 8.01 version of BarTender and later scan the Data Matrix bar code, does it scan correctly? Do you print using a black or a white color ribbon?

About how many 8.01 BT documents do you have with this problem?

Yes thetyu do scan correctly.  Honestly, these are printed/saved with an Adobe printer driver and used as a positive in a metalphoto process to make an aluminum label.

This is a bug and will be written up to be fixed.  A workaround would be to place a filled, white box shape below the data matrix, but in front of the black background.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

<Edit> At least my view is that it is a bug.  I will allow the development department have the last word on it.  We'll let you know what they say.

We've received a more definitive answer from our developers. The behaviour of the "White on Black" checkbox was changed in order for an inverted barcode to be used when the color is a light color other than white. The name of the checkbox might be a bit misleading, rather than "White on Black" it should perhaps be called "Inverse Colours". We implemented this change so that all our bar code objects could be standarized in this respect.

In order to get the old approach you used to see in v8.01, please open the properties for the bar code object in BarTender, select the "Symbology and Size" node on the left pane, then uncheck the "White on Black" checkbox on the right pane and choose "White" as the Colour for the bar code. Now, if required, choose the "Font" tab on the left node and choose "White" Colour as well for the human readable part of the bar code.

I hope this isn't a great inconvenience for you.

Also, if you select the "Border" node of the barcode's properties you can set a background fill colour for the matrix code and human readable to sit atop.
