Selecting Database Records By Dropdown Input Mask S’abonner

Hello all,

I've followed the training videos and read the forum but I cannot solve my issue.

I have a sinple database with usual fileds, part number, description, customer code etc.

I'm trying to design a input mask asking the user to select which (single) record to select and how many labels print out (all the same).

I tried the query prompt but the user must input the exact part number instead of select it from a drop-down list.

I then got to design a data entry form that pops up at print time.

I used a drop down control to select the record but I cannot figure out how to fill in the list of my part numbers from the database and fill cosequently the other fields in the label.

The control just shows Value1, Value2 and so on.

Can someone help me?

Is this the right solution to my need?

Thank in advance,

Angelo.

Hello Angelo,

Thank you very much for your post.

We have a sample that will take the records from a database file and list them on a Drop Down list in the Query. Please check the attached files and let us know if you have any question.

Many thanks.

Thanks a lot Carlos for your very fast answer.

I've tried the example immediately and it's working perfectly.

I gave a look to the scripts and shouldn't be a problem to apply the same to my data.

Tomorrow morning I'll try and will give you a feedback.

BTW, is this sample provided in the software? Is it documented somewhere?

Bye.

Hello Angelo,

I'm sorry but I'm afraid that this label is not in BarTender Sample documents. Our development departmen should be carefuly with the included samples, and all the sample label files cannot be included as it will implies to have a very heavy installation file, specially as an Excel file should be included.

Many thanks,

Carlos

Hi Carlos!

I downloaded your sample files and adapted my files accordingly (or so I thought). While your excel file had only 2 columns of data, mine has 3.

The dropdown picklist works, and the data from the OrderCode column displays properly, but I get a VBscript error message with regards to my third column "Description"

The error message is: OnNewRecord(Line32): : Could not find installable ISAM.

I have attached my label file and excel sheet.

Could you tell me how to fix my error please?

Thank you

Joel

I guess so as it was 4/5 years ago.

What are you trying to do?

I´m trying to use a .csv file with part numbers and its data, (around 15 columns), connected in Database Fields. And have a dropdown-list on data entry form so that user can select one part and in a textbox write how many copies to be printed.

That should print the given numbers of copies of that parts label with all of its data on it.

Essential it is a record-selector at print-time, but I want to use a dropdown instead to make it easier for the user.

And for the record :-)  we are still using version 10 SR4.  Maybe this problem are fine and dandy in later versions?

Sorry I no longer have access to v10 (or 10.1) but I am fairly certain that is not possible and you cannot have a Dropdown list provide the database query value.
