Driver For Meto Mr4
I need a driver for some Meto label printers that are marked "mr4". There is no driver in the driver list called mr4, but there are mr-4206, mr-4208 or mr-4306. Does anyone know whether mr4 is different from mr4206/4208/4306, or are these "mr4" printers likely to be actually one of these three types with 4-digit numbers?

It probably refers to the printers you mention. I've never heard of a "Meto Mr4" model explicitly. Note that the "4" in the model number signifies a 4" wide print head, "2" or "3" represents a 200 or 300 dpi resolution, with the last two digits representing the speed in inches per second. Meto Mr4, therefore, probably refers to the series of printers available. Look at the printer closer for the exact model. 0 -

Ian - thanks for your message. On looking at the photo I've got of the printer (I don't have a physical printer where I am now) I can just see that on the type label it says it's an mr4208. So it looks as if there is a driver for it - no problem.

I've now discovered that these are indeed mr-4208 printers. They are fitted with internal "DMXCONNECT M-Class Ethernet Print Servers" (presumably made by Datamax?). Does this cause any problems for Bartender interfacing with these printers?
I've also discovered that there are also some Datamax mr-4210 printers. Does this cause any trouble, or are these basically the same as the Meto branded printers?
And lastly there are some Meto "mi-4" printers, which I guess are actually mi-4208 or similar. I'm guessing that these printers are older, with USB, or serial interfaces? They are fitted with external Ethernet print servers made by Lexmark. Will Bartender be able to interface to these? How?

1. This would cause no problem, you simply specify the appropriate network port like any other printer that directly connects to the network.
2. Meto re-badge the Datamax manufactured printers. I believe the PnP identification, if installing via USB, will come up as the Meto model number and therefore look for the Meto branded driver.
3. I believe the mi series equate to the original M-class series of printers. Ask Meto/Datamax about what interfaces their product specifically has. Our driver, because it is a properly made Windows driver, can connect to any standard printer interface the printer cares to offer. The fact that the network printer server for the older printers is an external box is irrelevant to the printer driver. It is still just a standard TCP/IP port that we will use to connect to it.0
