Right Portion Of The Label With Printed Data Was Cut-off
Hi there,
I have a setup where im using the commander application in a server. the trigger file is created in the server's c:\[sub folder] directory, along with the data & shared printer's location.
sample trigger file:
=================
%BTW% /AF="C:\[sub folder of btw file]\myLabel.btw" /D=<Trigger File Name> /PRN="\\pcName\sharedPrinterName" /R=3 /P /DD
%END%
Data1,Data2,Data3
=================
myLabel.btw file is kept in c:\[sub folder of btw file], along with other btw files.
I'm experiencing an ocassional problem during printing. The bartender commands & label data are complete, but during printing, the label comes out with the right-most portion having a vertical cut.the vertical cut is 1/8 of the label layout. please see my attachment for a visual aid.
As a remedy, im stopping the commander service. then, im directly opening the btw file from the server and print data using a dummy trigger file. Then run commander service. It prints the label again as whole.
My suspected root-cause are the following:
1.over-writing the btw file in the server with an edited btw file copy
2.pasting a new btw file in c:\[sub folder of btw file]
However i do not have concrete evidence for this.
Although i have a remedy, i would like to find out what is causing this to make a permanent solution & avoid inconsistency in printing operations.
The printer model is zdesigner 110xiIII plus 600dpi.
I did not try installing the seagull printer driver since the problem occurs ocassionally, and as of opinion, is not related to the problem.
If there is something wrong or missing in what i did, please help me.
Thanks in advance.[attachment=88:label cut 1-8.JPG]

When I see this sort of issue it is normally printer related which can be fixed by cycling the power on the printer or doing a factory default reset should the printer be glitched. That said I notice that you are not using a Seagull printer driver for your Zebra printer. I highly recommend that you fully remove the current printer driver you are using and instead download and install our printer driver for this model which you can get from the below link:
http://www.seagullscientific.com/aspx/free-windows-printer-drivers-download.aspx
In addition to better reliability, you should find that you get better printing performance from the Seagull printer driver also. For reasons why this might be, please read the below white paper:

If you still have problems, please let me know the edition, version and build number of BarTender/Commander that you are using and also the version of Windows. There is another possibility here that I can think of, but I need to know your particular set-up first.0 -

Hi,
Sorry for the late response.
Thank you for the check items that you gave me.
I tested installing seagull drivers on those stations, however, the result was that the print-out expanded within the label instead of the normal size.
I returned the original used driver and the printout returned to normal size.
I cannot proceed to investigate since the setup was already running in the floor for a long time.
However, we would consider these check items in other future deployments to avoid these scenarios.
Additional Information:
-commander is running on windows server 2003 enterprise edition ver 5.2
-commander is enterprise edition version 7.75 build 20030 -
Double check the resolution of the printer hardware and in particular the resolution of the print head. The best way to do this is to use the front panel of the printer to print a configuration label.
Both issues you are seeing could be caused by a mis-match of printer driver to printer model hardware with particular regard to the resolution. I suspect that you don't actually have a 600dpi print head in your printer and that it is more likely to be a 305dpi print head.
Also try performing a factory default reset on the printer just in case there is a glitch of some kind in the firmware.
The "blown-up" printed label when using a Seagull driver is usually a sign that the driver used was for a higher resolution model than what the target printer hardware actually is. Basically more dots for printing that the printer can handle so everything scales up accordingly.0
