Reprinting With Bartender Systemdb Fails

    Do you own an Automation or Enterprise Automation Edition of BarTender?

    Try the following:

    * Close BarTender application if it's open.
    * In Windows, go to "Start > Run" and write [i][b]cmd[/b][/i] then press Enter.
    * From the command line dialog, go to the folder where BarTender is installed, which is
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Seagull\BarTender Suite"
    * Now write [i][b]bartend.exe / register[/b][/i] and press Enter.

    Does the error message still appear?


    With regards to the preview fail, what additional information do you get when you press on the preview pane where the error appears?

    We are having a similar issue where the client upgraded from 9.4 (BTA3) to 10.0 SR4 (BTA5). They were running on a Windows 7 machine 64 bit. Prior to the upgrade they were able to reprint, but after the upgrade they were unable to generate label preview as per Dominic's email.

     

    I have followed the instructions (bartend.exe  /register) but the issue persists:

     

    Severity    ID    Text    Computer    Response
    Error    10137    "Printed item preview image generation failed because a BarTender installation could not be found on 'RFBS-W7'.

    Possible reasons are:

    1) BarTender may not be installed on 'RFBS-W7'.
    2) The BarTender System Service may not be running on 'RFBS-W7'.
    3) Network issues may be preventing access to 'RFBS-W7'.
    4) A firewall may be preventing communication with the BarTender System Service running on 'RFBS-W7'."    RFBS-W7    OK

     

    So in our case, the proposed resolution did NOT resolve the issue. Are there other items we could check to find out what is going on?

    Did you go through all the possible reasons as specified below?

    2) The BarTender System Service may not be running on 'RFBS-W7'.
    3) Network issues may be preventing access to 'RFBS-W7'.
    4) A firewall may be preventing communication with the BarTender System Service running on 'RFBS-W7'."

     

     

    I take it that the customer is trying to reprint from exactly the same PC as the one from where they initiated the print job, and that the BT System database is locally configured on this PC... ?
