Today I tried the new release 2016 R3 x86 with Windows 7.

I can't use the Print Station Tool.

With a new Installation, after I have to enter the source folder. it crashes during start.

When I update an Installation, it doesnt find the Labels. When I try to set a new Folder, it always says: "The Folder is invalid or cannot be found."

Can someone confirm the Problem?

This maybe something to do with permissions to access the Network folder. I believe we had something similar with R2 a few months ago and it turned out to be the "user" account that runs Print Station did not have enough rights to access the folder.

With R2 it works. The new release accepts no folders, neither local nor mapped from the network.

Confirming that we have the same situ. Tried to be cute and run the R2 Print Station in an R3 environment but, no cigar.

Rolled back to R2, which is sad as we were hoping that the R3 was going to smooth out some of the other undetermined errors/flaky behaviours.

  • You may try doing a removal and reinstall of BarTender.
  • Definitely, verify permissions to the folder and Print Station is running under hasn't changed.
  • May also try removing the Settings.config file in both C:\ProgramData\Seagull\Print Station and C:\Users\jwen\AppData\Roaming\Seagull\Print Station. This will reset all the settings in Print Station to defaults.

It is strange that R2 works, and R3 no longer works. I'm not aware of any other reported issues by users or experience this problem myself. I see that Derek has already opened a support ticket with us. Anyone out there running into this issue should contact our tech support and open a support ticket so that we can further investigate.

Hi Legacy Poster,

by chance have you resolved this as yet?

Cheers,

Derek

I am having this same issue.  I did an uninstall/reinstall from a local admin account as well as remove the settings.config file.  Neither fixed the issue.  I have a support ticket started.  If that yields any results I will post here.

Thanks,

JS

This is a known issue in BarTender 2016 R3.  If you would like to be notified when the issue is resolved please submit a ticket to technical support.

The workaround is to add the BarTender Suite companion application Administration Console to the installation.  BarTender does not need to be reinstalled; you may modify the existing installation and add Administration Console.

  1. Open Windows Control Panel
  2. Right Click BarTender > Change
  3. Select Modify when the BarTender installer opens > Next
  4. Check the box next to Administration Console to add it to the installation (Note: There is no need to uncheck boxes that are checked. Unchecking a box will uninstall the respective application)
  5. Click through the installer and finish the installation
  6. Print Station should now work as expected
