Im using a simple login barcode, Username<<HT>>Password. Ive double checked, and triple checked my spelling. However, each time i scan the barcode, an extra ! shows up at the end. postierj1<<HT>>$Bammin2!      but the password output is $Bammin2!!    .. Any ideas?

Do you get the same behaviour when scanning the barcode into Windows Notepad?  It could be the scanner has the suffix programmed into the device.  Check the user manual of the scanner on how to reset it.

I dont see the password field when i scan the barcode, so using notepad is how i figured out why the password didnt work.

Ive used the same username and password, with different barcode software. There was no issue, the only difference is with BarTender it uses the Horizontal Tab <<HT>> as opposed to the other software uses the tabular \t   .. i dont see how the seperator would effect the ending of the barcode.. i could be wrong however.

The <<HT>> you see is simply the on-screen representation of the tab control character.  A tab is a tab, but can have varied human readable representation.  Note that the other data capture software might be doing extra stuff to your input that you're not aware of, just like the barcode scanner.

None of that makes sense, the only thing different with the data i entered is how the tab is coded.. It works fine with the other software.. So the capture software and scanner either have an issue with the barcode from bartender, or for some reason, bartender is adding in an ! for some unknown reason.

BarTender is not in the habit of adding extra hidden values on the end of the barcode unless expressly set to do so in the barcode properties, or unless it is the hidden check digit value of the Code 128 barcode symbology itself.  If you make a change to the data you enter, such as to the username, do you still get the same end character repeated.  It would be useful to know if this is some form of check digit, and thus most likely to change according to the proceeding data, or a fixed static value.

Check the "Transforms" tab to make sure a suffix value hasn't been set by accident.

If you still have problems, send the BTW document file for us to look at.

I will check that tomorrow, sorry for the slow response. I used a different name and password, this other password also originally had an ! at the end. The additional ! was added to the end of the password again.
