NewB here. We use this program frequently with many users, my supervisor would like the ability to lock the toolbar, to prevent individual users from adding/removing toolbars to the open pages.

Is this possible?

Thanks.

The icon toolbar in the BarTender application?  No I don't think that can be done.  Is this in order to lock out print operators from messing things up, or for label designers too?

Okay this is what I thought. Yes it is to prevent changes.

Prevent changes by print operators, labels designers, or both?  if just for print operators you might want to consider printing via command lines to avoid the BarTender application being shown in the first place.  In recent versions of BarTender the Print Station companion application makes for an ideal, locked down, environment in which print operators can select and print labels without causing mischief:

The Print Operators. They need to be able to enter SKU and batch data. Will printing by command lines allow this?

We have an older version, and I am not sure this applies.

BarTender v7.10 does not have a print manager (Print Station) but you can get something along the lines of what you want using command lines.

1.    Create a shortcut icon of your label on the desktop, right click it and select properties.  From the "Target" text box you can modify the path and name of the label format to include some command line parameters.

Example:

"C:\Program Files\Seagull\BarTender\7.10\bartend.exe" /AF="C:\Labels\Format1.btw" /P /XS

*More information on Command Lines can be found in the BarTender HELP system under the "Automating BarTender>Automation with the Command line interface" help topic.

2.    As you see above we first reference the BarTender application within double quotes.  Next we use the /AF command to load and activate a label format, /P to print and lastly /XS to exit and save the label.

3.    With such a command line only the prompt form for user input will appear on screen instead of the full BarTender application window.  You'd probably also want to enable the automatic print again checkbox for your label format from the "Options" sub-tab of the Print dialog.

We have so many labels, I am not sure if this would be efficient or worth it to make the changes at this time.

Hopefully we will integrate to an updated version and I will be able to impart the settings at the same time.

Thank you so much for your help in answering our questions.
