PRINTING A SIMPLE 2" HIGH BY 4" WIDE LABEL
Can't seem to get things formatted to print a simple 2" x 4" label
I have defined the page and template to be 2 x 4, but when i test print 2 labels, it seems to print too low and then it skips a few labels then prints the 2nd one - usually in the correct spot. I think it is a coincidence.

It sounds like it could be something in the label design and printer settings that maybe the issue (label sensor perhaps including possible its permission).
I would suggest going back a few steps first and power down the printer and then turn it back on. Before sending a label to the PC try pressing the feed button a couple of times first to make sure the printer is just feeding a single label each time. That will show that the printer itself is both loaded and configured correctly for the media you are using.
Assuming that works, if you are using a Seagull driver, then there should hopefully be an Action drop down menu in the Tools Tab of the Printer Properties and that should include a Form Feed option. Test with that and then with the Print dropdown Generic Test option as those should send down the print commands using the settings in the driver.
If those work consistently then look at you label design. The page of the label should be the width of the label including the right and left backing page whilst the height is that of a single label ignoring the interlabel gap as the printer should pick that up. The right and left on the layout should be set to the width of the backing paper to either side of the label.
