Dynamic quantities in form input
Hello everyone, I use a form input to print our labels.
It works great so far.
For the number of labels I want, I use a value from the source.
But now I want it to basically use the value from this source, but I also want to be able to change it manually (when selecting the labels to be printed).
The value that is there at the beginning is the number from the source, and I should only be able to change it if I want to.
Can I set this, how and where?
thank you!

One way to do this would be
- Make the field on the label linked to quantity a Named field via the Change Data Source name button.
- On the File Print screen set the Copies to get their value from a Data Source and click on the Data Source and use the Change Data Source name button to open the new window and select the field you named above.
- On the Data Entry from, add an input box and link this to the Copies label object.
At print time the user prompt will show the database value for the selected record and you can either press print to print that quantity or enter a new value to print a different number of labels.

You cant change the values in the tables and so would need to setup the Data Entry form as above. Please note the quantity field does not actually need to be printed on the label, but juts has t be present, you can drag the field outside of the printable area and it will still work.
I would also suggest that you make sure that the Frequency for the Data Entry value is set to Each Record in the Properties>Data Entry of the input box and to allow for multiple records you may also want to add extra, read only, fields on to the Form so you can tell what item the quantity value you are entering relates too, if you are making multiple record selections for your labels at a time
