I have the same problem with my Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1 computer.

When I run BT2019_R2_136938_Full_x64.exe as administrator and click run on the pop-up, nothing happens. Also, nothing happens when I run the .exe without administrator privileges.

    Any help will be appreciated.

After speaking to support this is a known issue and .net framework 3.5 needs to be installed first

I can confirm this error message is related to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 not being installed. The BarTender installer does try to enable and install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 but in certain environments and instances it may not be able to do so. You should try installing and enabling Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 prior to installing BarTender and follow Microsoft's guidelines here for installation if you are running into this issue.

Anyone has try to upgrade from Bartender 9.4 to Bartender 2019 R3? My client is planning to upgrade to Bartender 2019 but worry it will go smooth.

Not sure if gone from a 9.4, but upgraded from both 10.1 and 2016 so far.

I have hit .NET framework issue on one install (on the server for the Licence) but that was sorted by manually having to download the .NET stuff as it seems the automatic Windows updates failed with this.  I received an ODBC error with one customer's site (very old Excel 97-2003 XLS files and the 32/64 bit issue) but installing the different bit version of 2019 fixed this.

Other than that I have not had a problem so far, so maybe worth getting them to check if they are linking up to Excel/Access and seeing what type of files they are and if they are the old type then match the bit version of 2019 with their Office product..

    Hi Yang,

To make the transition smooth as possible, I would also suggest following our support article here for upgrading to BarTender 2019.

There also is a new concept called provisional activation that allows you to temporarily activate BarTender 2019 on another computer for a temporary period, while your older license remains active in production. You will be able to test BarTender 2019 in a separate environment independent from your production environment. The mentioned support article provides more information on how this works.

Thanks for the info. We get this done by next week. Hopefully all will run smooth.

Not come across this error directly but we have had some issues with the WUServer (for automatic Windows Updates) with relation to Microsoft .Net stuff where the update does not work correctly and you have to bypass it to install the .NET 3.5 files.

I would suggest you speak to your IT support team about this

HELP, guys! our team wanted to upgrade, but changed their mind. I already deactivated in preparation for the upgrade, and now when I try to reactivate, it says it is activated on another computer and I should deactivate it on that computer first. It's the SAME computer. And I did not receive a deactivation error of any kind when I deactivated BarTender. Is this an activation server failure?

What version of BarTender are you using and on how many computers is it installed?

2016. It is installed on one PC, but licensed on none. activation server chooses to ignore the fact that it accepted a deactivate on the computer, and won’t allow me to reactivate in same PC.

Are you using Professional or Automation?

If Professional then all the BarTdner elements will be installed and running on the same PC and if that is the case it sounds like something has gone wrong with the deactivation process and I would suggest you contect your regional Seagull Tech Support office and ask for assistance as they may need to do something at their end to sort this.

However if is a Automation or Enterpriose Automation then the licence element maybe installed and running on a separate PC or more likely a server. Deactivating the software on the PC in this instance will not deactivate the Licence Sever application running on the remote machine. Moreover, if you install the full version of Automation (or EA) on a PC including the Licence Server application and then try to activate the software, you will then get the licence already activated message. If that is the case uninstall or modify your install to make sure Licence Server is not installed and this may get you back up and running
